When they return, their car won't start. Trapped in the vast emptiness of the wilderness -- all they can do is wait for rescue.

Plot / Synopsis :
Coach Roy McCormick (Lawrence) was once college basketball's top mastermind. His attention began to turn on what endorsement contracts he could secure instead of actually coaching his team. Also, Coach McCormick has a quick temper. He lets his temper get the best of him in most situations, and after accidentally killing an opposing teams mascot during a game, he is banned from coaching college basketball (again) until he can show that he can control his anger.
Roy waits for a coaching position, yet nobody calls. Eventually he receives only one offer: the Mount Vernon Junior High School, coach Roys former basketball team is looking for somebody to coach their basketball team, the Smelters. Roy reluctantly accepts the offer, hoping that a few weeks at the school will prove his good intentions and restore him to his high-living ways as a celebrated college coach. As Roy begins coaching the squad, he gets into a situation that he has never been in before and doesn't know what happened to him. He eventually starts teaching the concepts of basketball to his new team. With the teaching and learning done between the two, the Smelters eventually start having success. The success leads Coach McCormick to find what he has been missing all this time, not a big coaching gig, not a high-dollar endorsement, but his simple love of the game.

Plot / Synopsis :
Seven months after the events in House of 1000 Corpses, Texas Sheriff John Quincy Wydell and a large posse of State Troopers go to collect the Firefly family for over seventy-five homicides and disappearances over the past several years. They begin a full-scale attack when the Firefly family fires on them. During the firefight, Tiny goes missing, Rufus is killed, and Mother Firefly is taken into custody while Otis and Baby escape. Otis and Baby take refuge at a run-down motel, where they torture and murder four of the five members of Banjo and Sullivan, a traveling country band. The last member of the band is killed by a truck after she is freed by the maid service. Otis and Baby then meet up with Baby's father, Captain Spaulding.
Meanwhile, Wydell slowly begins to lose his sanity when Mother Firefly reveals that she murdered his brother. After having a dream in which his brother urges him to avenge him, Wydell stabs Mother Firefly to death. The surviving Fireflies gather at a brothel owned by Captain Spaulding's brother, Charlie Altamont, where he offers them shelter from the police. After leaving the brothel to purchase some chickens, Charlie is threatened at gunpoint by Wydell to give up the Fireflies. With the help of a pair of amoral bounty hunters known as the "Unholy Two," the sheriff takes the family back to the Firefly house where he delights in torturing them with similar methods they had used on their own victims. He nails Otis' hands to his chair and staples crime scene photographs to Otis' and Baby's stomach, beats and shocks Captain Spaulding and Otis with a cattleprod, and taunts Baby about the death of her mother.
Wydell lights the house on fire and leaves Otis and Spaulding to burn while taking Baby outside to murder her. Charlie Altamont returns to save the Firefly family, but is brutally axed by Wydell. It is only the last minute intervention of Tiny that saves the Firefly family; the giant returns and snaps Wydell's neck. The family shares a brief tearful reunion as Tiny walks into the blazing house. Otis, Baby, and Spaulding escape in Charlie's car. The film's final scene has the trio driving into the middle of a police barricade, with no sound heard except Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird." As the tempo of the last portion of the song increases, they grab their guns and go forward in a final blaze of glory, being shot to death by the police.

Plot / Synopsis :
Winnie the Pooh and his friends hear a strange noise and find a set of large, perfectly circular footprints in the Hundred Acre Wood (and, in Tigger's case, a major earthquake in the middle of the night, causing his house to be severely damaged). They jump to the conclusion that the noise and prints are from a heffalump, and Rabbit organizes an expedition to go try to catch it; but Roo is told to stay behind, as everyone believes the expedition is too dangerous for one as young as he.
Roo slips out on his own in search of the heffalump, and soon finds one, a playful young four-footed creature named Heffridge Trumpler Brompet Heffalump IV (nicknamed "Lumpy"), colored lavender and having a Southern English accent and a trunk like an elephant, but being not much larger than Roo. Roo is afraid at first but the two quickly make friends and play. Roo asks Lumpy to come home with him to meet all of Roo's friends; Lumpy is afraid because of what he thinks they might be like, but Roo reassures him and they return to the Hundred Acre Wood, which is deserted, as everyone else is still out searching for the heffalump. Roo and Lumpy become great friends and find that they're not so different.
The pair eventually meet up with the rest of Roo's friends, who are frightened and immediately try to "rescue" Roo and capture the Lumpy. Lumpy runs away; in running after him Roo ends up in a tight spot, and it's up to Lumpy's mother to save Roo and show everyone that heffalumps are nice and not to be feared.

Plot / Synopsis :
When Josey Aimes (Charlize Theron) returns to her hometown in Northern Minnesota in 1989, after leaving her abusive husband, she needs a good job. A single mother with two children to support, she turns to the predominant source of employment in the region – the iron mines.
The mines provide a livelihood that has sustained a community for generations. The work is hard but the pay is good and friendships that form on the job extend into everyday life, bonding families and neighborhoods with a common thread.
It’s an industry long dominated by men, in a place unaccustomed to change.
Encouraged by her old friend Glory (Frances McDormand), one of the few female miners in town, Josey joins the ranks of those laboring to blast ore from rock in the gaping quarries. She is prepared for the back-breaking and often dangerous work, but coping with the harassment she and the other female miners encounter from their male coworkers proves far more challenging.
Times are tough. The last thing the miners want is women competing for scarce jobs – women who, in their estimation, have no business driving trucks and hauling rock anyway. If these newcomers want to work the mines they’ll have to do it on the terms set by the veteran workforce and it won’t be easy. Take it or leave it.
When Josey speaks out against the treatment she and her fellow workers face she is met with resistance – not only from those in power but from a community that doesn’t want to hear the truth, her disapproving parents and many of her own colleagues who fear she is only making things worse. In time, even her friendship with Glory will be tested, her already difficult connection with her father, a lifelong miner, will be pushed to its limit and elements of her personal life exposed to scrutiny. The fallout from Josey’s battle to make a better future for herself and her children will affect every aspect of her life, including her relationship with her young daughter and her sensitive teenage son, who must first cope with the embarrassment of his mother’s sudden notoriety and then face harsh details of her past she was hoping he would never have to know.
Through these struggles Josey will find the courage to stand up for what she believes in – even if that means standing alone.

Going through a bender of depression and alcohol, Terry finds herself commiserating with Denny (Kevin Costner), a former baseball star turned unenthusiastic radio personality who was her husband's colleague and friend and an occasional presence at the house. With both Terry and Denny feeling down in the dumps about recent events in their lives, the two find themselves drawn to one another, and while Terry fights the notion of a new romance, her daughters -- Andy (Erika Christensen), Hadley (Alicia Witt), Emily (Keri Russell), and Lavender (Evan Rachel Wood) -- each have different ideas about their futures. The Upside of Anger was written and directed by Mike Binder, who also plays a supporting role as the producer of Denny's radio show. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The Upside of Anger was written and directed by Mike Binder, who also plays a supporting role as the producer of Denny's radio show. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Plot / Synopsis :
Jared (Paul Walker) and Sam (Jessica Alba) are two lovers living a rustic life in a trailer, next to the beach in the Bahamas. Sam works as a guide in the local aquatic theme park, "Atlantis", and Jared has worked a number of odd jobs in his field of passion, diving. His real dream, though, is finding one of many merchant and pirate ships lost in the waters around the Bahamas, many of them with large amounts of gold on board.
Jared's friend Bryce (Scott Caan) and his girlfriend Amanda (Ashley Scott) come to visit, as Bryce, a lawyer in New York City, has acquired the use of a luxury vacation house from a client he defended. While snorkeling, Jared comes across artifacts that seem to stem from a ship wreck. The four of them investigate and find several other pieces that turn out to be the remains of a legendary French pirate ship, the Zephyr, lost as the pirate made his getaway.
This legendary shipwreck is rumored to contain millions in gold. The foursome, thinking their dreams of discovering buried treasure have finally come true, decide to investigate. While exploring it to try and stake their claim, they come across the remains of a crashed plane carrying a large quantity of cocaine. Bryce and Amanda are advocates of keeping the cocaine, while Jared and Sam oppose it. To avoid attracting attention to the location of their treasure find, Bryce and Amanda agree not to report the crashed plane and its illegal cargo until they have secured their claim on the sunken ship.
Jared and Bryce go to a local boat supplier, in order to make a deal for the equipment needed to retrieve the treasure, with Bryce funding the purchase. However, Jared soon finds out that Bryce, on a trip to Las Vegas, borrowed money from a loan shark and is in heavy debt and therefore is in no position to pay for anything.
Without Jared's knowledge, Bryce and Amanda come up with a plan to retrieve some of the cocaine from the sunken plane and sell it to local night club owner Primo (Tyson Beckford). Unfortunately, Primo turns out to be an associate of drug lord Reyes (James Frain) to whom the cocaine belonged in the first place. Reyes, wanting his cocaine back, threatens Jared, Amanda and Bryce at gunpoint to bring him his cocaine or die.
Faced with this choice, Jared agrees to retrieve the cocaine. However, he tells Reyes that he will need $30,000 worth of non-refundable equipment to do so. This is not true, of course, and he uses the unfortunate situation to get to the gear he needs to salvage the Zephyr.
Back on land, the trio breaks the bad news to Sam, who is heartbroken that Jared would violate his principles and work for drug lords. He tries to convince her that it's okay and that it's a one-time thing, but she leaves him, saying that 'they' are over.
Jared, Bryce and Amanda head to sea. They start the night's work by uncovering the site of the Zephyr, finding the ship's bell with the name on it. For Jared, the victory feels hollow, though.
As they are moving the cocaine packs from the plane to their surface boat, Amanda is attacked by a tiger shark. She is brought to the hospital where she dies due to a huge bite out of her left leg. Hearing of the tragedy, Sam comes to the hospital and she and Jared are reunited. While driving back from the hospital, the trio (Jared, Sam and Bryce) are confronted by Primo at an intersection. A short, but intense car chase ends up with Jared leaving their truck and telling Bryce and Sam to meet him later. He surrenders to Primo and tried to get them to back off by offering them and their boss the loot on the Zephyr. Primo still takes him to Reyes' boat. The boat looks deserted, so Primo tells Jared to lie down on the floor of the state room while he investigates. After some time, when Primo doesn't return, Jared goes to explore. He finds Primo, Reyes and several others shot dead in one the bedrooms. Out from the toilet comes Bates (Josh Brolin), a local salvager and former employer of Jared's. He asks Jared where "his cocaine" is and Jared bolts. He escapes from the boat and heads for shore.
Meanwhile, Sam insists on going to the police, so she goes to the private home of one of their friends, a local cop named Roy (Dwayne Adway). Bryce drops her off, but thinking they'll get busted, heads off to meet Jared. Roy comforts Sam and tells her he knows a guy who can help, but that it has to be kept outside of the official channels, as he's not sure who he can trust. Roy betrays Sam and takes her to Bates.
Jared and Bryce meet up and Jared calls Sam. Bates answers her cell phone and tells Jared to disclose the location of the cocaine. Jared insists that they meet and Jared show him to the location. Bryce and Jared then make a plan to settle the situation once and for all.
Jared is taken aboard Bates' boat, the Sea Robin. Here he is shown Sam, who is in the engine room, handcuffed to the body of Roy, who was shot by Bates. The Sea Robin heads for the location where Jared directs them, but as they approach the area, they see a white substance floating on the surface. Jared tells Bates that it's half of the cocaine, ruined, and that Jared will destroy the rest. He jumps into the water, and Bates and his men, after changing into Scuba gear, go after him.
Below the surface, in the plane, the divers look for Jared. Bryce has switched places with one of the dead pilots, and they use this to mount a surprise attack. An underwater struggle follows, killing all of Bates' men and wounding Bryce.
Meanwhile, Sam finds a forgotten machete in the engine room and uses it to free herself from Roy's body by cutting off his arm. She then severs a pipe, which brings one of Bates' men down into the engine room, where she locks him in. She then goes up to the bridge to call for help. The man escapes from the engine room; a chase around the boat ends in a fight that Sam ultimately wins as they go into the water and the man, wounded by Sam with a boat hook, is attacked by another tiger shark.
Below, Jared and Bates are the only ones left. Jared uses an air tank as a missile by hammering off the valve. Bates escapes it, but as it hits the fuel tank at the back of the plane, it causes the entire plane to explode, killing Bates.
Sam jumps into the water, fearing for Jared's life.
This segues into a scene six weeks later, where the trio is salvaging the Zephyr. After trying to bring an old cannon atop fails and the cannon sinks back down to the bottom, Sam and Jared call it a night. However, Bryce sees something in the water, uncovered as the cannon hit the wood of the wreck's deck. He jumps in and dives down. As he comes back up he announces that he found the gold of the Zephyr.

Plot / Synopsis :
The film begins when two friends, Jenny Tate (Mýa) and Becky Morton (Shannon Elizabeth), are at a pier and decide to get their fortune told by Zelda (Portia de Rossi). She foretells death and horror soon, but they don't believe her and walk away laughing. A little while later, Jenny realizes Becky has disappeared and can't find her on the pier. Becky was driving. One night, while in a car together, Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg) and his sister Ellie (Christina Ricci) hit an animal and another car. They attempt to rescue the other driver, Becky Morton, who is dragged off and eaten. Jimmy and Ellie are both slashed by the creature's claws. Jimmy starts to believe that the creature was a werewolf, but no one will believe him. He and his sister start to exhibit wolfish tendencies (such as both of them eating raw bacon (and not finding it at all odd), Ellie catching a fly in her bare hand, and being attracted to the smell of blood) but Ellie denies it, apparently proving her point by touching a silver picture frame and not getting burned. Jimmy becomes much stronger, as shown when a bully named Bo (Milo Ventimiglia) forces him to join the wrestling team. He easily defeats three wrestlers, including Bo.
Meanwhile, Jenny is torn apart in a parking garage by a wolf-like creature. Zelda's prediction for Jenny and Becky comes true. Eventually Ellie starts to believe the werewolf idea, and Jimmy proves it when he holds a silver cake server and gets burned (he then discovers that the picture frame Ellie touched was actually stainless steel). He goes to warn Ellie with the help of Bo, who shows up at their house to admit to Jimmy that he's gay and apparently likes Jimmy. Bo and Jimmy race to the place where Ellie is, and in the meantime she figures out that her boyfriend Jake (Joshua Jackson) is a werewolf. He confirms that but claims it wasn't him that attacked her and Jimmy. Another werewolf attacks, seemingly proving his story. Bo and Jimmy try to help, but Bo is knocked out. The new werewolf is revealed to be Joanie (Judy Greer), a publicist who had a one night stand with Jake and became a werewolf. She wants revenge by killing all of the other girls he dates. He refuses to let her hurt Ellie, and she knocks him out. Joanie soon turns into a werewolf and starts attacking. Ellie and Jimmy fight her, and she finally runs and hides when the police arrive. The two draw her out by insulting her. The police open fire, apparently killing her. The only way to kill a werewolf is to separate the brain from the heart. As she rises again, a cop shoots her in the head, finally killing her. Bo is okay, but Jake has disappeared.
Jimmy and Ellie return to a wrecked home. Their dog bit Jimmy and became a werewolf as well and destroyed the house in an uncontrollable rage. As Jimmy goes to try to fix the power, Jake arrives. He reveals that he did in fact bite Ellie and Jimmy, and he wants Ellie to live forever by his side after he kills Jimmy. She refuses, and the two fight it out, but her werewolf side only emerges and disappears at small intervals, while he has complete control over his werewolf side and dominates the fight. Jimmy joins in, climbing across the ceiling and biting Jake, distracting him long enough for Ellie to stab him with the silver cake server, badly injuring him. Ellie decapitates Jake with a shovel and breaking the curse on her, Jimmy and their dog. A girl Jimmy likes named Brooke (Kristina Anapau) shows up with their dog, having learned where they live from Bo, who also shows up. Bo and Jimmy are now friends. Jimmy kisses Brooke and walks her home along with Bo. Ellie goes to clean up the mess that is their house.

While going over his books, accountant Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick) notices that Bialystock raised more money than he spent for one show, and points out that if one raised enough money for a show that closed in one night, you could make more off a flop than a hit. But the scheme unexpectedly goes wrong when "Springtime for Hitler" becomes a "so bad it's good" hit. Mel Brooks co-wrote the screenplay for The Producers as well as producing it, but directorial chores were handed over to Susan Stroman, who also directed the Broadway show; Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick also repeated their roles from the Broadway production.

Plot / Synopsis :
Valiant is a woodland pigeon who wants to become a hero someday. When he hears they are hiring recruits for the Royal Homing Pigeon Service, he immediately sets out for London. On the way, he meets a smelly but friendly pigeon named Bugsy, who joins him, mainly to get away from clients he cheated in a game of find-the pebble, and helps him sign up for the war. At camp, they meet two wisecracking burly pigeon twins, Toughwood and Tailfeather, and a regal red pigeon named Lofty. They go under serious training by Sergeant Montegue, who gives them a good workout and giving them the name squad F. While there, Valiant falls in love with a nursing dove named Victoria, who seems to have feelings for him as well. Suddenly, the founder of the RHPS, Gutsy, informs Montegue that his troops, Squad F, have to leave for France immediately to get a message even though their training isn't finished. Their plane is shot down in France, and Gutsy presumed dead. Valiant and company enlist the help of two French mice, Charles de Girl and Rollo, to get them into German territory and help them defeat the evil pigeon-hunting Nazi falcon general Von Talon. When the pigeons split up trying to deliver the message, Bugsy is captured by the falcons. The team reunites, along with Gutsy, who barely made it out of the plane. Valiant rescues Bugsy and Mercury from Von Talon's bunker, and in the process, gets the message back. Valiant defeats Von Talon with the help of his family and friends and delivers the message. We learn that the message was telling allied commanders to perform the D-Day operation at Normandy. He is awarded a Dickin medal and reunites with Victoria.

With only a few hours left in the calendar year, Precinct 13, one of Detroit's oldest precinct houses, is closing. Amid heavy snowfall and unsafe road conditions, only a few lawmen remain on duty for New Year's Eve. They are headed by Sergeant Jake Roenick (Ethan Hawke), a good cop wrestling with bad memories of a fatal undercover op from the previous spring. Early on December 31st, formidable crime lord Marion Bishop (Laurence Fishburne) is cornered by an undercover cop. Their ensuing struggle leaves the cop dead, but Bishop captured by the Organized Crime and Racketeering squad run by Marcus Duval (Gabriel Byrne).
Bishop is loaded on a bus with other criminals, but the battering snowstorm stops the bus well short of its high security destination. They prisoners are instead stranded at remote and rundown Precinct 13 where they're temporarily incarcerated. When two masked gunmen break in and attack the guards from the bus, everyone inside Precinct 13 realizes that more will come to extract Bishop. With minimal weaponry and maximum courage, they will not go gently into the night, and the thin lines between good and bad bleed together.

Plot / Synopsis :
With only a few hours until the new year, Detroit's oldest police station, Precinct 13, is about to close forever. Only a skeleton crew of officers are on duty for New Year's Eve, including Sergeant Jake Roenick (Ethan Hawke), veteran officer Jasper (Brian Dennehy), secretary Iris (Drea de Matteo), and psychiatrist Alex (Maria Bello). Roenick is haunted by a botched undercover operation from eight months before that resulted in the death of the other two members of his team.
Meanwhile, crime lord Marion Bishop (Laurence Fishburne) is arrested after a confrontation results in the death of an undercover officer. Bishop is put on a prison bus with three other criminals: addict Beck (John Leguizamo), petty crook Anna (Aisha Hinds), and counterfeiter Smiley (Ja Rule). A raging snowstorm and treacherous road conditions force the bus driver to make a detour to Precinct 13, where the prisoners are to be held until the storm is over.
New Year's celebrations at the precinct are soon cut short, however, as an intrusion by masked gunmen results in the death of one of the accompanying officers, and injures another. The officers soon find they are surrounded by unknown assailants, preparing to lay siege to the precinct. After one of the attackers throw a brick into the precinct with "Bishop" written on it, Jasper claims they are Bishop's men, here to extract him.
This is proven to be false, however, after Roenick kills one of the attackers in another assault and reclaims the man's wallet, which contained his police badge. Bishop then reveals the attackers are actually policemen, led by corrupt Captain Marcus Duvall (Gabriel Byrne). Previously, Bishop and Duvall were partners in crime, but Duvall got greedy. Now he and his men are to kill Bishop before he can testify at trial.
Heavily outnumbered by a growing police force made up of street cops, snipers, and elite SWAT troopers, Roenick makes the decision to free and arm the prisoners. Although the officers do not trust the criminals, and vice versa, Roenick and Bishop reach an agreement to cooperate in order to stand a chance to survive the night. With their combined efforts, they manage to repel further attacks by the police forces, and reclaim their weapons.
Soon Precinct 13 is joined by another officer, off-duty cop Capra, who miraculously manages to evade sniper fire in order to make it into the building. The attending officers welcome him with open arms, but Beck accuses him of being a plant. He is subdued by Bishop, but is approached by Smiley, who agrees, and the two of them plan an escape.
The officers also plan an escape, making use of Capra's car in order to flee the precinct and call for help. Anna, who can hotwire a car, volunteers to go. Alex also goes along. As Beck and Smiley shoot the prison bus, causing it to explode and creating a distraction, the two teams leave the precinct. Beck and Smiley make it to the perimeter fence before they are killed by snipers. Anna and Alex appear to have made it, before a cop hidden in the backseat shoots and kills Anna.
Alex is brought before Duvall, who asks her how many are in the precinct. Defiant, she replies "a hundred", and she is executed by Duvall.
With only Roenick, Bishop, Jasper, Capra, and Iris left, the precinct stands little chance of withstanding further assaults. Bishop discovers a traitor sneaking out messages to the police and accuses Capra, but before anything can be done, the police begin to lay siege to the precinct with SWAT reinforcements.
Jasper miraculously remembers an old sewage entrance beneath the precinct, and Roenick and Bishop set the precinct on fire to slow their pursuers. The survivors escape along an abandoned sewer passageway, but even as they find themselves on a deserted street they are suddenly surrounded by the corrupt policemen. Jasper reveals himself to have been the traitor all along, and the officers led by Duvall prepare to execute the remaining survivors.
Bishop sneaks a flash grenade onto Jasper, and in the ensuing distraction the survivors disarm the officers and escape. Iris and Capra attempt to escape in the officers' car, while Roenick and Bishop flee into the forest. Duvall and another officer pursue Roenick, while another corrupt cop goes after the car. The car flips and Capra is heavily injured, but Iris manages to kill the pursuing officer.
In the forest, Roenick is suddenly confronted by Bishop, who offers to cooperate in order to kill Duvall. As the corrupt officers have night vision and Roenick and Bishop don't, Roenick volunteers to draw their fire so Bishop can gain their position. The plan works, and Bishop kills the accompanying officer, but he is then shot by Duvall. Roenick arrives, and kills Duvall, but is shot and injured also.
After considering their cooperation throughout the night, Bishop spares Roenick, who vows that he will find and arrest him. After Bishop escapes, officers led by Iris arrive. An officer asks Roenick if anyone else is in the forest, and after looking around for a moment he replies no. The last shot is of an injured Roenick and Iris making their way to the ambulance, where Iris states she didn't even recognize the battle-hardened Roenick of the night, and he replies, "get used to it."

Plot / Synopsis :
In a modern-day world where the walking dead roam an uninhabited wasteland, the living try to lead "normal" lives behind the walls of a fortified city. A new society has been built by a handful of enterprising, ruthless opportunists, who live in the towers of a skyscraper, high above the hard-scrabble existence on the streets below. But outside the city walls, an army of the dead is evolving. Inside, anarchy is on the rise. With the very survival of the city at stake, a group of hardened mercenaries is called into action to protect the living from an army of the dead.

Plot :
One man's struggle to rise above his circumstances prompts him to try a career in music in this acclaimed drama from writer and director Craig Brewer. Djay (Terrence Howard) is a low-level pimp and drug dealer who scraped together a living in the ghettos of Memphis, TN. Djay isn't happy with his life, and the realization that he's reached the same age when his father unexpectedly died has made him start thinking about changing his ways. Djay has always had a gift for spinning stories, and after picking up a cheap keyboard, he begins picking out beats to go along with his rhymes. After bumping into an old high-school buddy who works in gospel music, Key (Anthony Anderson), Djay decided to take the plunge and remake himself as a rapper. With the technical know-how of Key and the musical input of a local beat maker named Shelby (DJ Qualls), Djay begins turning his way with words and his first-hand knowledge of the street life into music, as his two live-in girlfriends, Lexus (Paula Jai Parker) and Shug (Taraji P. Henson), add their musical input and emotional support and Nola (Taryn Manning) continues to turn tricks to pay the bills. When local boy-turned-nationwide hip-hop star Skinny Black (Ludacris) comes to town to pay a visit to Arnel (Isaac Hayes), a club owner friendly with Djay, he sees an opportunity to put his demo in the hands of someone who can bring his music to the masses, though it turns out to be far more difficult than he expected. Hustle & Flow had its world premiere at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, where it received a number of rave reviews and took home the Audience Award. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Two women get a new and unusual perspective on the doctor/patient relationship in this romantic comedy. Rafi Gardet (Uma Thurman) is a woman in her mid-thirties who has recently gone through a messy divorce. Rafi has been seeing an analyst, Lisa Metzger (Meryl Streep), as she struggles to get back on her feet emotionally and look for new love. Rafi meets a man named David Bloomberg (Bryan Greenberg), and the two quickly hit it off, but Rafi isn't sure if she should pursue the relationship, since David is only 23 years old. After discussing the burgeoning romance during one of their weekly sessions, Lisa urges Rafi to take a plunge with David, and not be afraid to seek out the companionship she needs. However, there's something about David that Lisa doesn't know -- he's her son. Rafi doesn't know that Lisa is David's mother, either, and both psychiatrist and patient are thrown for a loop when they learn the truth. Prime was originally intended to star Sandra Bullock as Rafi, but she dropped out of the project shortly before filming began, reportedly due to disagreements with the director over the script, with Thurman taking her place. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Plot :
Chris (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), a recently retired tennis pro, takes up a job as a tennis instructor at an upmarket London club. He strikes up a friendship with a pupil, Tom Hewett, after discovering a common affinity for Opera. Tom's younger sister, Chloe (Emily Mortimer) is smitten by Chris and the two start dating. During a family gathering, Chris meets Tom's fiancée, Nola Rice (Scarlett Johanssen). Tom's mother Eleanor clearly does not approve of her son's relationship with a struggling American actress, a source of tension; she does not mind that Chloe is with Chris. Chloe encourages her father to give Chris a job as an executive in one of his companies; Chris begins to be accepted into the family, and marriage is discussed. However, Chris is attracted to Nola, and in a careless moment they make love. Nola discourages Chris from pursuing this relationship, and eventually Chris marries Chloe. Some days later, Chris learns that Tom broke up with Nola and she has left to America.
Chris and Chloe are unable to have children, much to her distress, and Chris is turning into a workaholic. Tom marries his new girlfriend apparently because she is pregnant. An inconvenient pregnancy also seems to have been the reason for his and Nola's break-up. Chris vainly tries to track down Nola at her old apartment, but meets her by chance some days later at the Tate Modern where he is supposed to meet Chloe. Under his wife's nose, he discreetly asks for her number. The two of them start having an affair. While Chris is spending time with his wife's family, Nola calls him to inform him that she is pregnant. Chris is shocked and asks her to be reasonable and get an abortion. She refuses, saying that she has had an abortion twice before and that she wants to raise the child with him. Chris's strange behavior makes Chloe suspect that he is having an affair but Chris convinces her that he is not. Nola urges Chris to divorce Chloe. Chris is caught in a fix and finds himself lying to Chloe as well as Nola. Upon discovering some of his lies, Nola confronts him, and he just barely escapes public detection. Finally, one day he calls Nola to tell her that he has good news for her.
Chris steals a shotgun from his father-in-law's place and carries it to his office in a tennis bag. After leaving his office, Chris goes to Nola's place and enters the apartment of Mrs. Eastby, Nola's neighbor, on the pretext of checking her TV reception. He shoots her and ruffles her apartment as a burglar would. He takes some jewelery and drugs, which he puts in in his tennis bag. As Nola reaches her apartment, Chris shoots her too after saying that he is sorry. He then takes a cab to the theater to watch a musical with Chloe. Police investigate the crime scene and reach the conclusion that it was a drug robbery.
The following day, the murder is in the news and the Hewett family is shocked while Chris feigns surprise. Chris, on his next trip to his father-in-law's place, replaces the shotgun. Chloe and Chris announce to the Hewetts that Chloe is pregnant. At the same time, Chris gets a call from Detective Mike Banner and is called in for regular questioning in relation to the Eastby-Rice murder. Before the questioning, Chris dumps Mrs. Eastby's jewelery and drugs into the river, but by chance her ring bounces on the railing and falls on the sidewalk. During the police questioning, Chris claims to have known Nola only socially, but Banner surprises him by pulling out a diary in which he features extensively. Chris confesses his affair to Banner but denies any link to the murder.
Chris's guilt leads him to see apparitions of Nola and Mrs. Eastby, who tell him to be ready for the consequences of his actions. At the same time, Banner suddenly figures out Chris's crime. His theory is, however, discredited by his colleague who informs him that a drug peddler who was found murdered on the streets had Eastby's ring in his pocket. The film ends with Chloe having a baby boy who is named Terrence and his uncle blessing him with luck rather than goodness.

From the pages of Marvel Comics, creator of "X-Men" and "Spider-Man," comes ELEKTRA, the first action event movie of the year. In the ultimate battle between good and evil stands a warrior who makes the choice that tips the balance. Jennifer Garner stars in the title role as a strong, mysterious and sexy action heroine – a lethal synthesis of grace and power. Not long after recovering from seemingly mortal wounds, Elektra has severed all ties with the world, living only for her next assignment. But in an unexpected turn of events, she is forced to make a decision that can take her life in a new direction – or destroy her. Key players in Elektra's journey are Stick, a blind martial arts master responsible for Elektra's "resurrection," and Mark Miller and Abby Miller, a father and daughter on the run from The Hand, a powerful syndicate whose members practice the dark martial art of ninjitsu. After Jennifer Garner made a brief, tantalizing appearance as Elektra in the 2003 Fox / Regency picture "Daredevil," executives at both companies were eager to have Garner reprise the role, but this time in her own motion picture. Garner trained long and hard to do justice to the character portrayed in the famed Marvel comics: a warrior without limits. Already physically fit and skilled in various fighting techniques from her work on the television series "Alias," Garner took her martial arts training to a new level under the guidance of ELEKTRA's Stunt Coordinators and Fighting Choreographers. A bonus for Garner – and the comic's multitude of fans – was that this time Elektra would don a red costume that stays true to the colors worn by the character in the Marvel stories. -- © 20th Century Fox
